In the series of youtube video's on "the simple learning DriZzleR" I added a new one. (part 3). This learning DriZzleR can also serve as a very simple and quick to build gasifier for emergency situations, or for use in small third world community's,
As an experiment I wanted to test if it was possible to fire it up and flare it when absolutely no energy was available. I used bicicle. (pedal powered gasifier).The test however did not showed much succes. Not so much because, it would be principly imposible to start the mini DrizzleR up on pedal power, but because the mechanical components where badly made.
As you know I have to give out all my mechanic work to a local blackschmitt and this time he realy did a shitty job.
Anyway i hope someone picks up the idea and shows a better performance someday.

Woodgas Forum

We decided it is time to create a forum. At the beginning we thought of a "only DriZzleR" forum. But the biggest and best German woodgas forum www.holzgibtgas.com will end his service soon. So there will be no forum in the german speaking corner to gives woodgasers a home for their projects. So we decided to not only create a "only DriZzleR" forum. Also other gasifiers are welcome. Such the equipment behind the gasifier like coolers or filters are the same. 

After this decision we thought about it. Not only woodgas could be the right way for such a forum. it must be an more potential forum which cares about more than just woodgas also about heat, mobility and electricity, food and also water.

We decided to name it "International self supplier forum" which takes care of all the different energy sources, food and farming and every other thing you can use on your way to be an self supplier.  You can feel free to post your projects and get in contact with worldwide users talking about self suppling technologies.

The complete forum is like the DriZzleR project itselfs.
Totally open source and free for everybody.

Microgaser´s DriZzleR - Part 4

Microgaser and his brother did some changes ​​to their DriZzleR. They now uses only a 50mm tube. The tube is around insulated. He is working with an ejector. Here are the pictures and the videos from the test run. 

Microgaser und sein Bruder haben wieder einige Änderungen an Ihrem DriZzleR vorgenommen. Er benutzt nun nur noch ein 50mm Rohr. Die Röhre ist rundherum isoliert. Er arbeitet mit einem Ejektor. Hier sind einige Bilder und ein Video von seinem Testlauf.

Spacepeters test: Refractory insulation - Feuerfeste Isolierung

 Spacepeter has made some experiments with perlite and cement. At a mixing ratio of 50% / 50%. The video is very spectacular and I think is one of the most promising insulation coatings for wood gasification. Spacepeter has very high temperatures which often drive the metal in his DriZzleR to the limits. We are curious how a tube of this material is suitable for gasification.  

15-20 minutes, the material was heated with the gas torch. With a temperature up to 1800 Kelvin.

 

 Spacepeter hat einige Versuche mit Perlit und Zement gemacht. Bei einem Mischungsverhältnis von 50%/50%. Das Video ist sehr spektakulär und ist denke ich eine der viel versprechensten Isolierungsschichten für die Holzvergasung. Spacepeter hat in seinem DriZzleR sehr hohe Temperaturen die oft das Metall an Ihre Grenzen treiben. Wir sind gespannt wie sich eine Röhre aus diesem Material zur Vergasung eignet.

15-20 Minuten wurde mit das Material mit dem Gasbrenner aufgeheizt. Mit einer Temperatur von bis zu 1800 Kelvin.

Sorting chips??? hackschnitzel sortieren??? yes/no-Ja/nein. In the mean time yes!

Sorting chips is time consuming and thus costly. So why should we do it. Well hereunder in this video is the answer. If you sort, then you eliminate the smaller particles such as, little stones, sawdust, bark, from the wood. Your net amount of pure wood increases. Also on fines the gasifier is running much hotter wich makes the ashes melt and form clinker. 

But indeed it is a pity that one has to sort. If you think that by sorting you get two and a half bags of fines by only one bag of sorted chips. that is a lot of waisting gasable material.

This was only a first test, maybe with a cooler running reduction tube or other adaptions to the grate there could be a possibility to still uses this small fines. 

I will continue testing all possibility's, so stay tuned.

Hackschnitzel sortieren kosted zeit und damit auch geld. Also warum es tun? Hieroben in der video sehen Sie dass antwort. Wan mann sortiert eleminiert mann kleine verunreinigkeiten wie, kleine steinen, sagemehl, baumschorsz. Wann mann sortiert erhoght mann sein anteil an reines holz. An die kleine halbholzteilchen lauft der vergaser viel heisser, und dann smilzt die ashe und formt sich klinker.
Aber naturlich ist es shade dass mann sortieren muss. Beim sortieren zum beispiel habe ich nur ein sack gutes holz und zwei en half sacke verlohrenes material.
Dies war aber nur der erste test, vielleicht mit eine kalteren laufende reductionsrohre kann ich shon dass problem von klinkeren grosenteils vermeiden, dann kann mann diese kleine abfall doch verwenden, weil vergasern lasst es sich recht gut.
